2.     Encourage using the text to retrieve and physically find the answer rather than from memory.
3.     Skim read and get the gist of each paragraph thereby cutting down time to locate the source of the answer.

Retrieval, inference, word definition and language techniques

1.     Read texts to identify the jumping off points that lead to inference.
2.     Pulling out information from the text rather than taking a wild guess.
3.     Finding connections between sentences & ideas to support inference.
4.     Use contextual clues to figure out the meaning of words
5.     Strategies for figuring out new words through context

Work on a passage to cover questions relating to:
Retrieval, inference, word definition and language techniques

Testing Methods –Instructions for Parents
 Vocabulary Test (Day 1–4)
A link will be sent to you.
Your child should complete this test at home.

  1. Multiple‑Choice Test (Day 4)
    A separate link will be sent for this test.
    Your child should also complete this at home.
  1. Written Test

    You will receive:

    • the question booklet, and
    • instructions on how to administer the test at home.

    Once your child has completed the written test,
    please scan the completed booklet and email it back to us for assessment.
