The CSSE exam consists of an English test of 40 minutes (
multiple-choice comprehension), Mathematics test of 35 minutes (standard format
) followed by a 20 minute break and then a multiple choice Verbal Reasoning test
that lasts 50 minutes, set by NFER. The final scores for individual papers,
after mathematical standardisation, are themselves "weighted", Verbal Reasoning
being worth 50% of the total marks, English and Maths 25% each. The same
selective test is utilised by the various schools within the Consortium
selective schools. Thus a single selection test provides an opportunity for
parents to express a preference for more than one selective school. |
